SpartanLady2010,
I received Crest Pro-Health Advanced Mouthwash + Extra Whitening for free for testing purposes from BzzAgent but my opinion is entirely my own and unbiased. Although I was so excited to try this product since its alcohol-free and could whiten my teeth, I was disappointed in my results. The first thing I noticed is that the mouthwash has a STRONG peroxide taste. Although the product claims to have a minty taste to it, all I tasted was the peroxide and water. The mouthwash also foams up in your mouth similar to how peroxide foams when cleaning a cut and it gets worse if you swish longer than the 1 minute recommended on the bottle. The product tends to cling to your teeth and I noticed that I needed to spit several times to completely remove the product from my teeth. Since the bottle stated not to eat or drink anything for 30 minutes after using the product, I followed the listed directions but the aftertaste is borderline unbearable that I found myself counting down until the 30 minutes were up to drink something to mask the taste. After the first time, I was convinced that I couldnât use this product again. After the first time, the taste and foaming action became more bearable and I grew to like the small hint of mint and having a clean feeling mouth. It did freshen my breath for a bit, but not as long as I would have hoped. One major drawback to the mouthwash is that although the product is alcohol-free, it may still burn your mouth. The mouthwash made my gums feel sensitive similar to alcohol-based mouthwash Iâve used in the past and I still had a burning sensation. I also noticed that after using this, my mouth was covered in a white mucus-like film!! I found myself many times having to take a finger and do a sweep across the front and back of my teeth and sides of my mouth to remove this film. I wasnât sure whether this film was a good or bad thing so I initially wasnât worried about it but during a dentist visit, I mentioned that I was using a new mouthwash and was having this white film buildup and I was told that film was the top of my gum layer sloughing off!! My dentist explained to me that reaction was due to the mouthwash being too harsh and literally burning my gums in the similar manner as a chemical peel for your face. YIKES!! My teeth also felt MORE sensitive, which was ironic since the product claims to helps strengthen your enamel (my dentist explained to me that claim is not true anyway). After all of that, my teeth never looked whiter. Iâm an avid coffee and tea drinker and even gave both up while testing this product to see the mouthwashâs whitening power and I noticed no changes after 7 days. I continued using the mouthwash for 5 weeks until the bottle was empty and still never noticed any changes to my teeth. This product is not worth it and donât believe all of the hype this mouthwash claims. I have been a fan of the Crest brand for awhile but I will not be using this product again.
